Gender Equality and Social Inclusion is at the Core of Our Work
CIG-Uganda seeks to address the gap between policy and implementation by mainstreaming Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) into its program. CIG-Uganda’s GESI mainstreaming approach focuses on women, men and other vulnerable groups of people as actors and beneficiaries in the three sectors of Energy, Infrastructure and Urban Development. The program follows three key principles to mainstream GESI into its intervention: Incorporating GESI sensitive considerations throughout consultations Ensuring development benefits flow to diverse socially excluded groups of people; and Integrating GESI across CIG-Uganda funded interventions.
CIG-Uganda is ensuring that programme interventions include an explicit focus on engaging and benefiting women, men and other vulnerable groups. We also ensure that our implementing partners are adhering to the GESI standard operating procedures across the different intervention cycle. The intervention life cycle includes Design, Mobilisation, Implementation and Close-out.
Design: CIG Uganda programme will identify and work alongside target partners to mainstream GESI considerations in the entire intervention cycle – identification, design, implementation, monitor and evaluation.
Mobilisation: CIG-Uganda will implement actions to ensure a standardized application of GESI principles and practices in all its engagement processes – applying the principle of “Do No Harm” and “Leave No One Behind”.
Implementation: CIG programme will systematically have GESI mainstreamed and executed in all intervention activities capturing key lessons on GESI (both qualitative and quantitative), for intervention progressive improvement.
Close-Out: GESI will be integrated into the programme’s end-line evaluation. GESI success stories and lessons learned will be documented and shared out internally and externally.
